NOTICE OF RACE 

  1. RULES-
  • The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the 2017 – 2020 Racing Rule of Sailing.

1.2 Racing Rules of Sailing Part 4 preamble and RRS 40 will be changed as follows:all competitors shall wear personal buoyancy at all times while afloat except for brief periods while changing clothing. Racing rule A2 will be changed to provide one discard with five completed (5) races, if fewer than five (5) races are completed there will be no discards. Racing rule 33 will be changed as follows: During the race windward marks and offset may be repositioned without signal for minor changes in course. Racing rules 35, A4, and A5 will be changed as follows: Boats still racing (and that do not subsequently retire, get disqualified, or get redress) 20 minutes after the first boat sails the course and finishes, will be scored TLE (Time Limit Expired). RRS 44.1 will be modified so that a boat that breaks a rule of RRS part 2, may either: take a one turn penalty prescribed in RRS 44.2 or; take a scoring penalty as prescribed in RRS 44.3. RRS A4, A5, and A11 will be changed as follows: Boats scored TLE will be scored points equal to the number of boats finishing within the time limit plus two points by the race committee without a hearing. These changes will appear in full in the sailing instructions. If there is a conflict with the NOR and the SI’s, then the SI’s take precedent.

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY-

2.1 The regatta is open to all current members of the International Sunfish Class or US Sunfish Class Assoc. Membership cards will be checked at Registration. Anyone can join the Sunfish Class by completing a membership application at check-in.

2.2 Eligible boats may enter in advance by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required entry fee, to: Dave Thompson, 156 D Gramorcy Ct. Lakewood, NJ 08701 postmarked no later than May 20, 2017. Registrations postmarked or received after May 20th will be subject to a $10 late fee.

2.3 On site entries will be accepted on June 3rd from 0800 hours through 0915 hours.

3.0 ENTRY FEE- Entry fee will be $70.00 per boat. This will include breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday; breakfast and lunch on Sunday; and a commemorative T-shirt. A cash bar will be set up for Sailors who are at least 21 years of age. Extra Dinners will be available for purchase on Saturday night. Membership fee for the Sunfish Class is separate.

No warning signal will be made after 1630 hours on Saturday
18:00 PM Pasta Dinner at LYC
Sunday, June 4, 2017  08:00 – 09:00 Lite Breakfast
09:30 Harbor Gun
10:00 Warning Signal, Race 6 with Race 7 to follow
13:00 Lunch and Awards
No warning signal will be made after 12:00 hours on Sunday.

7.0 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS- The Sailing Instructions will be available no later than 9:00AM on June 3, 2017

  • DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY -Sailing is an activity that has an inherent risk of damage and injury. Competitors in this event are participating entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The race organizers (organizing authority, race committee, protest committee, host club, sponsors, or any other organization or official) will not be responsible for damage to any boat or other property or the injury to any competitor, including death, sustained as a result of participation in this event. By participating in this event, each competitor agrees to release the race organizers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’s participation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law.

9.0 INSURANCE -Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum coverage of the policy limit of their homeowner’s insurance policy or the equivalent thereof.
